Former OU football star Trent Williams reveals he had cancer, blames Redskins for not recognizing it sooner

Washington Redskins offensive tackle Trent Williams said he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer on his scalp earlier this year and was worried that he might die.

Speaking publicly for the first time since the end of last season, the former Oklahoma standout said he decided to leave the team and hold out the last five months because he was upset team doctors did not take seriously a growth that first formed on the top of his head six years ago and kept growing in ensuing seasons. Finally, this winter, he said, the doctors tested the lump and discovered he had Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP), a rare form of cancer.
