Decision to play football pays off: Kyler Murray's first NFL contract dwarfs MLB signing bonus with A's

For months, it seemed former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray wouldn't walk away from his baseball commitment because of a $4.6 million signing bonus he negotiated when the Oakland A's draft him No. 9 overall in last year's MLB draft.

But the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner's decision to focus on football paid off — literally — on Thursday when he signed a four-year, $35 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals. The deal is fully guaranteed and comes with a team option for a fifth year.

Kyler Murray's fully guaranteed 4-year deal will be $35,158,645, which includes a $23,589,924 signing bonus via @corryjoel https://t.
