Coronavirus in Oklahoma: Lon Kruger says Sooners disappointed, but 'anything you can do to lessen the curve, the better'

When the OU men’s basketball team met for breakfast in its Kansas City hotel on Thursday morning it already knew its game that evening would be different.

They were preparing to play West Virginia in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament later that night without fans present.

After breakfast, the players went back to their hotel rooms, still expecting to play at around 8:30 p.m.

Ten minutes later, everything changed.

“We got the call that the event was canceled,” OU coach Lon Kruger said on Friday. “So, we brought them right back down and delivered that news.
