Brent Venables takes huge $1 million pay cut to benefit Oklahoma football program

Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables just made a $1 million statement.

USA Today's Steve Berkowitz reported Friday, on the eve of the Sooners' 2025 season opener against Illinois State, that Venables took a pay cut of $1 million for this year. According to a statement from the university to USA Today, that $1 million will be put toward revenue sharing for the program.

"It was initiated by Coach Venables as a one-time give-back to contribute to the department's revenue-sharing efforts," an Oklahoma athletics department spokesman told USA Today.
