Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops wants people to pump the breaks when assuming Baker Mayfield has won the starting quarterback job for the Sooners.

After transferring from Texas Tech and sitting out the entire 2014 season due to NCAA transfer rules, the 6-foot-2, 214-pound junior is believed to be the favorite to win the job. But Bob Stoops isn’t quite there yet.

Stoops said that perception that Baker Mayfield has won the starting QB job “couldn’t be further from the truth.”

While at Texas Tech in 2013, Mayfield threw for 2,315 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions before deciding to transfer.
