TULSA — Oklahoma wrestling coach Lou Roselli walked through the tunnels of the BOK Center on Sunday when he was stopped by a familiar face: Oklahoma State wrestling coach John Smith.
The pair of Bedlam rivals chatted briefly following the Big 12 Tournament with Smith offering words of encouragement after the Sooners placed second behind the Cowboys in team points, 176.5 to 93.5.
“Obviously, they have one of the most storied programs in history,” Roselli said. “We're in a building process for us.”
Both of the Sooners' tournament finalists — Davion Jeffries (149 pounds) and Matt Reed (174) — were defeated by OSU wrestlers Sunday, with Jeffries falling 7-4 to Anthony Collica in addition to Kyle Crutchmer earning an 8-4 decision over Reed.
