Sooners advance two into finals
TULSA — If things get much more exciting, OU’s Anthony Mantanona could have a new sibling before the Big 12 wrestling championships are over.
“My mom’s pregnant right now. She’s supposed to give birth any day,” Mantanona said after his semifinal victory over Iowa State’s Samuel Colbray at 174 pounds on Saturday at the BOK Center. “So it’s really awesome she was able to come down here.”
Mantanona, who is from Palm Desert, California, escaped with 11 seconds left and won 6-5, becoming the second of two Sooners to advance to the championship round on Sunday.
