Quarterback troubles have been at the heart of Texas' issues over the past decade or so since winning the 2009 title with Vince Young under the center.
The Longhorns have gone through players such as Garrett Gilbert and Case McCoy, Tyrone Swoopes and Shane Buechele and others looking for someone to provide stability at the position.
Texas coach Tom Herman has four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster now, with the veteran Buechele joining Sam Ehlinger, one-time Oklahoma commit Cameron Rising and former Southmoore and Newcastle standout Casey Thompson in the group.
