The Big 12 basketball championship could bypass Lawrence, Kansas, this season.
KU has won or shared every Big 12 title since 2004, when Eddie Sutton’s Cowboys won the conference and reached the Final Four. But Kansas State is a major threat to the Jayhawks after a week in which the Wildcats not only won at home against KU, but won at Baylor, which began the week with title aspirations of its own.
Of course, we’ve seen this script before, so the trophy belongs to someone else when they pry the Jayhawks’ cold, dead fingers off the hardware.
