Yes, the former Missouri coach. Grinch is the son of Pinkel’s older sister. When Grinch was in middle school in Grove City, Ohio, his uncle was head coach at Toledo, about 140 miles away, and Grinch became a Toledo fan and infatuated with football.
Eventually, Pinkel moved on to Mizzou and built a quality program at a place that had gone 20 years with most mediocre football. Grinch moved on to Mount Union College, a Division III program.
