Here's Why Oklahoma Will Beat Texas A&M To Advance To The Elite Eight

The Oklahoma Sooners face the Texas A&M Aggies in a Sweet 16 in a matchup between a current and former Big 12 program. The Sooners are the No. 2 seed, while the Aggies are the No. 3 seed in the West Region. The Sooners are favored in the game, and they'll advance to the Elite Eight with a win. Here are three reasons why that will happen:

3. Better Performance

Making the Sweet 16 is never easy, but Texas A&M got lucky early. They handled Green Bay with ease, but nearly lost to Northern Iowa in the Round of 32. The Aggies needed a miracle comeback and while they deserve credit, that type of play won't fly against Oklahoma. The Aggies were one UNI non-mistake away from sitting at home this weekend. OU got a challenge from VCU, but never trailed in the final six minutes of play. The Sooners looked better in the first two rounds and they are simply the better team.

2. Superior Offense

Texas A&M checks in at No. 32 in Ken Pom's adjusted offense, while OU is 14th. Oklahoma is hitting 46 percent of its shots and 42.5 percent of its 3-pointers. The Aggies shoot 45 percent from the field and 35 from behind the arc. The two teams have similarly ranked defenses, and that gives the edge to the Sooners. That different in 3-point shooting is sizeable and the Sooners will capitalize on it en route to a win.

1. Buddy Hield

Hield is easily going to be the best player on the court against A&M. Hield had an incredible effort against VCU and is averaging a crazy 31.5 points per game. The senior is on fire right now and won't be cooling down anytime soon. With Hield lighting up opponents, the Sooners will be able to get past the Aggies.
