Oklahoma Football News: Sooners Crush Lousiana Tech In Season Opener, 48-16

The Oklahoma Sooners got off to a blazing start in their season opener against Louisiana Tech, leading 31-3 at the half...and things didn't change much after halftime.

The third quarter featured a lot more Trevor Knight - despite Oklahoma's commanding lead, the sophomore from San Antonio kept throwing the ball, and Louisiana Tech wasn't able to do much of anything to stand in his way. Four straight completions to four different receivers to begin the half set up an 8-yard Alex Ross touchdown run...and at 38-3, things were pretty much on ice.

The intensity faded considerably in the fourth quarter, and the Bulldogs were able to add some respectability to the scoreline with two touchdowns in the final period. The final result was never in question, though, and the Sooners cruised to a comfortable 48-16 victory.

Player of the Game: Keith Ford

Ford gave the Lousiana Tech defense fits, and the sophomore RB racked up 51 rushing yards on the ground and caught four passes for 65 yards. In a game where several offensive players stood out for Oklahoma, Ford left a major impression. The Sooners will go into next week's game against Tulsa full of confidence, and this team looks like a very real contender for a playoff spot.
