3 Reasons Why Oklahoma Is Guaranteed To Beat Oklahoma State This Weekend

For the second year in a row, the Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys will meet with the Big 12 title on the line. While both teams have a very slim chance at making the college football playoff, the winner will clinch a spot in a lucrative New Year's Six bowl. All that being said, this one likely won't be close - here are three reasons why Oklahoma is guaranteed to win this game:

3) Oklahoma's proven track record
Oklahoma State comes into this game with just one win over a team currently ranked, and have losses to both Central Michigan and Baylor (both unranked teams) on their resume. On the flip side, the Sooners are coming off a 56-28 drubbing over a West Virginia team that was ranked 14th at the time. Plus, OU has won eight games in a row - including five of their last six by double digits.

2) Oklahoma's explosive offense
The Sooners rank second in the country in points scored, and rank in the top 25 in both passing yards and rushing yards - one of a select few teams that can stake that claim. Both Baker Mayfield and Dede Westbrook have emerged as Heisman candidates, and Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine present a two-headed backfield monster that Oklahoma State can't stop. Last year, both players ran for over 130 yards as the team recorded 344 rushing yards on just 42 carries. With the Cowboys' mediocre defense this year, Oklahoma should be able to dominate again.

1) Home-field advantage
Very few teams come into Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and walk away with a victory. The Sooners are 100-8 at home under Bob Stoops, a level of dominance that other teams can only hope to match. Despite playing every season, Oklahoma State only has three wins in Norman in the last 40 years. Expect the home crowd to push the Sooners to a victory.
