From all reports, Carmelo Anthony is soon to be gone from the Thunder, which is a lot different from being gone too soon.
Carmelo arrived last September, and it cost the Thunder Doug McDermott and Enes Kanter. Carmelo played reasonably well, but his basketball but never really jelled with Russell Westbrook, Paul George and the gang.
Doesn’t seem to be anybody’s fault. The starting lineup actually was quite good in the regular season when Andre Roberson was healthy, but in the playoffs, without Roberson, Carmelo’s value went south, which is what happens to 33-year-olds with limited defensive chops.
