Thunder's ability to score off turnovers Monday reveals a season-long trend

The Thunder leads the NBA in forced turnovers, putting that ability on full display Monday night when it set a franchise record by turning the Mavericks over 29 times in the OKC's 122-102 New Year's Eve victory.

"We lean on our defense," Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook said Monday night.

The Thunder, whose opponents average 18.6 turnovers per game, has translated that defense into offense better than any team in the NBA this season, with a league-leading 21.3 points off turnovers per game.

“It adds more pressure to them because we're a team that you can't stop us from getting out in transition,” Thunder forward Paul George said.
