Thunder journal: Thunder first-round pick Ferguson cleared by FIBA

Thunder first-round pick Terrance Ferguson has received clearance from the International Federation of Basketball (FIBA), The Oklahoman confirmed Thursday, paving the way for the 19-year-old to sign his NBA contract.

The Thunder wanted to have Ferguson signed in order to play in the Orlando Summer League July 1-6, but the 6-foot-7, 185-pounder wasn't cleared yet. Once summer league passed, signing Ferguson became less urgent. Clearance of Ferguson is out of the Thunder's hands and is subject to change. It comes down to discussions between FIBA and the Adelaide 36ers, who Ferguson played for last season.

Since Ferguson's reported clearance two weeks ago, the Thunder has signed Nick Collison, Dakari Johnson and Andre Roberson, bringing the roster to 15 guaranteed contracts.
