Report: Paul George informs Thunder he'll become a free agent

The dream of teams getting Paul George is here.

George informed the Thunder on Thursday that he will not be opting into the final year of his contract and will become a free agent, according to a report from ESPN.com’s Adrian Wojnarowski. George had until 11:59 eastern on Friday to decline his $20.7 million player option for the 2018-19 season.

It was always expected that George would enter free agency. Before he was acquired by the Thunder via trade last summer from Indiana, George and his representation informed the Pacers that he would not return to Indiana at the end of his deal and he would become a free agent.
