OKC Thunder: Why Chris Paul played against the Suns while other key players rested

Chris Paul could’ve rested Monday if he wanted to.

The Thunder was playing the second half of a back-to-back, and its injury report was stacked with a better lineup than the one Oklahoma City had available against Phoenix.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, Steven Adams and Nerlens Noel were all out with minor injuries, and Dennis Schroder remained away from the team for the birth of his second child.

Without five of its top six scorers, Paul and a ragtag Thunder roster were dealt an expected result: a 128-101 loss to the red-hot Suns in a Monday matinee.
