Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has signed with Converse, the company announced Wednesday.
Gilgeous-Alexander teased a shift in brands Tuesday on Instagram when he posted a picture of a blurred-out shoe hanging over his shoulder. That picture became clear Wednesday when Converse unveiled an ad featuring the 21-year-old guard.
"I'm a guy that wants to stand out, be different from the pack," Gilgeous-Alexander said in the ad. "Canadian basketball has been a little bit overlooked, but I kinda liked that growing up, it gave me a little edge. I like to be the underdog and prove people wrong.
