Former Thunder forward Malik Rose has been hired by the NBA as vice president of basketball operations, the league announced Monday.

Rose, a two-time NBA champion with the Spurs, played 20 games for the Thunder in the second half of the 2008-09 season. It was the final season of Rose's 13-year career.

He also worked as a Fox Sports Oklahoma studio analyst.

Rose spent the last two seasons as assistant general manager for the Pistons. Former Thunder executive Troy Weaver was recently hired as Detroit's new general manager.

Rose, 45, holds a master's degree in sports management from Drexel, where he starred from 1992-96.
