The OKC Thunder’s approach to team-building in recent years has been subtly revolutionary. Whereas most of the NBA is trying to fill their rosters with shooters to create an offense that’s high-octane enough to keep up with the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors of the world, Oklahoma City has been trying loading up on long athletes to try and stop them.
Almost every relevant player on their team can capably defend more than one position with some having the rare ability to defend all five–*cough* Andre Roberson and Paul George. So it only makes sense that OKC general manager, Sam Presti, would consider targeting Warriors’ forward, Kevon Looney, who is basically what you would get if you figured out how to blend every single Presti acquisition since he started in OKC into one player.
