NBA Finals: Trades for Paul George & Kawhi Leonard paid off, but Toronto's gamble has Raptors on the brink of title

The Toronto Raptors stand on the brink of history Monday. Courtesy of the Thunder model.

Toronto can conquer, and perhaps even end, one of the great dynasties of the NBA’s last 50 years. The Raptors also can carry the O’Brien Trophy to where the NBA Finals never had been – beyond U.S. borders.

It’s a stunning reversal from the storyline of just a few days ago, when the Warriors, even without Kevin Durant, seemed unbeatable, having gone 6-0 against mighty Houston and red-hot Portland since the Whim Reaper suffered a calf strain a month ago.

Toronto can close out the NBA Finals on Monday night in Game 5.
