On June 30, 2010, a 21-year-old Kevin Durant answered his door at 11:01 p.m. to the faces of Sam Presti and Troy Weaver, the two presumably smiling.
The Thunder front office men sat down with Durant at the earliest possible time the NBA allowed contract negotiations to begin. Durant said it didn't take long for the deal to be struck. “It was done at 11:02,” Durant told The Oklahoman that summer. “Point blank. It was done.”
A week later, the contract was formally announced. The newly-minted Thunder franchise centerpiece had a reported $89 million reasons to announce his financial stability in the most lavish of ways: A television interview.
