High volume scoring by Westbrook can't make up for defensive inconsistency

It happened again. Russell Westbrook scored over 35 points and the Thunder lost.

In OKC’s 131-120 loss at Minnesota Tuesday, Westbrook led the Thunder with 38 points Tuesday on 28 shots. For the fourth time in eight games, Westbrook scored over 35 points. He shot 50 percent or better in each contest, but OKC won just one of them.

That’s not to say Westbrook shooting efficiently is a bad thing for the Thunder. Of course it isn’t. Correlation does not equal causation, and the Thunder’s defensive struggles have played a major part in it losing six of its past eight games.
