Frankie J 'won't ever forget' his impromptu halftime show before Thunder-Jazz game

Thunder entertainment coordinator Candace Coonrod turned to Frankie J and his crew and delivered the news.

“Alright, guys,” Coonrod said. “We’re going out.”

Grammy-nominated artist Francisco Javier Bautista, better known as Frankie J, raised his eyebrows.

“Right now?” he asked.

“Yeah,” Coonrod responded.

The exchange was captured on Instagram. Frankie J fixed his in-ear monitors, wiped the sweat from his forehead and checked his watch. It was just past 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Chesapeake Energy Arena. Frankie J wasn’t scheduled to perform until halftime of the Thunder-Jazz game, but his act was moved up while anxious fans wondered why the game had been pushed back.
