Forbes: Thunder ranks 17th in NBA franchise value

The Thunder was one of three NBA teams to lose money in 2015-16, according to Forbes’ annual report on the value of the league’s franchises.

Still, as the league’s 17th-most valuable franchise according to Forbes, the Thunder has a value of $1.025 billion dollars. Last season, Oklahoma City had $187 million in revenue and an operating incoming of -$8.4 million.

All three teams that lost money last season – the Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers and L.A. Clippers – were “in the red as a result of excessive payrolls that triggered nearly $90 million in luxury tax payments cumulatively,” according to Forbes’ report.
