Down 26 points, Paul George and Thunder pull off remarkable rally in Houston

HOUSTON — On a night of high drama and the largest comeback in Thunder history, Paul George’s game ended in the most understated way possible: on the free-throw line.

George methodically drained both his free throws with 1.7 seconds on the clock to put the Thunder up 117-112. Soon after the buzzer sounded. George clapped, embraced Russell Westbrook, and weaved his way through high fives to the locker room.

The Thunder (36-19) came back from a 26-point deficit to beat the Rockets (32-23) Saturday at Toyota Center. Westbrook recorded his ninth straight triple-double, Dennis Schroder and Terrance Ferguson both went on scoring bursts in the Thunder’s 42-point third quarter.
