Coronavirus in Oklahoma: Thunder pledges financial aid to hourly workers at Chesapeake Energy Arena

The Thunder will provide financial assistance to part-time arena workers, the team announced on Friday. With the Thunder’s addition, all 30 NBA teams have committed -- whether it be by statement, or in a few cases via news reports -- to supporting hourly workers during the NBA’s hiatus.

“Our game-night staff are vital to the game experience and are part of our Thunder family,” the team said in a statement, “whether they are employed by the Thunder or by ASM Global, the company contracted by the City of Oklahoma City to operate the arena.”

The Thunder plans to provide financial assistance to the part-time staff on the team’s payroll.
