Two-thirds of the Thunder's star championship core are now under contract through 2030-31 season. Chet Holmgren, the #2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, was rewarded by Oklahoma City with a maximum, 5-year rookie extension after establishing himself as one of the league's premier bigs in his first two seasons of action.
Holmgren receives the full 25% rookie max allowed, but, unlike 2022 draft classmate Paolo Banchero, was not given a player option or a Rose-rule incentive package to increase his salary down the road (based on the reporting at the time of this writing).
