Canelo Alvarez trounces Jermell Charlo to retain undisputed title

Canelo Alvarez cruised to a one-sided decision over Jermell Charlo to remain the undisputed super middleweight champion Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Alvarez dominated the action from start to finish, including in Round 7, when he floored Charlo with an overhand right hand followed by a grazing right uppercut.

The judges scored it 119-108, 118-109 and 118-109 for Alvarez.

Saturday's fight marked the first between two male undisputed champions in the four-belt era. Charlo is the undisputed junior middleweight champion.

Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) made the third defense of his undisputed title, which he earned when he added Caleb Plant's IBF title to his WBC, IBF and WBO belts in November 2021.
