'Break down the barrier walls': Women in Thunder basketball operations attend NBA All-Star forum

CHICAGO — When Ayana Lawson’s daughter was born two years ago, Lawson’s perspective shifted.

“How can I look her in the face and tell her she can do or be anything,” Lawson said, “if I don't 100 percent believed it myself?”

The Women in Basketball Operations Forum, which the NBA hosts during All-Star week, is one way the league is tackling a lack of diversity in leadership positions. Lawson, Thunder director of player services and appearances, attended the second annual forum on Thursday, along with three other women in the Thunder organization – Amanda Green, vice president of team counsel and strategic alignment, and basketball communications coordinators Laila Wani and Shelby Willingham.
