A Scholarly Surprise at Capitol Hill High School

At one moment, Deonte Burton stood in an empty hallway clutching a decorated orange crate filled with 30 brand new copies of The Kite Runner outside of a much deserving English class that had no clue who was just beyond its door. In the next, he stood smiling, flanked by two English teachers filled with relief and beaming with excitement knowing that they will finally have enough books for every student in their class.

The students and faculty at Capitol Hill High School received an exciting pick-me-up on Tuesday when Andre Roberson and Deonte Burton made a surprise visit to the school in honor of National Literacy month.
