It has been a wild ride for the Miami Hurricanes over the past few days. Last week, The U got blown out in the Pinstripe Bowl by Wisconsin 35-3, then on Sunday head coach Mark Richt announced that he would be retiring, effective immediately.
However, unlike most coaching searches — which can take weeks for an institution to determine its ideal candidate, and to then finalize a deal to bring him into the fold — just about 10 hours after Richt’s decision was made public, multiple outlets began reporting that Manny Diaz would succeed his former boss.
Not more than two weeks ago, Diaz left his position as the defensive coordinator at The U to become the head coach at Temple.
