Tony Alford’s Departure for Michigan Unexpected, But Ohio State Will Have Plenty of Interested Candidates to Replace Him

An already-eventful Ohio State offseason took another wild turn on Wednesday.

After nine seasons as Ohio State’s running backs coach, Tony Alford informed Ohio State that he would leave the Buckeyes to become the new running backs coach at Michigan, giving Ohio State a coaching staff vacancy to fill after starting spring practices.

While it shouldn’t necessarily come as a complete shock that Alford decided to move on from the Buckeyes, the destination was certainly unexpected, adding another chapter to an already-heated rivalry in an offseason where there’s more pressure than ever for Ohio State to turn the tables in The Game.
