Mr. Stein: I mostly agreed with Rob Oller’s (Thursday) column on the basketball Buckeyes’ mass exodus. Where I part company with him is the notion that all of the deserters are busts.
Regarding the latest three defectors, what I saw were flashes of brilliance accompanied by a lot of rookie mistakes. Daniel Giddens at times showed shot-blocking ability. A.J. Harris has Mike Conley-like quickness and was a tenacious defender. Mickey Mitchell has great court vision and passing ability, but the game hasn’t slowed down for him yet.
Another rebuilding year comes to mind — 2007-’08.
