Ryan Day to Introduce Ohio State's New Coaching Staff at Halftime of Thursday Night's Basketball Game Against Illinois

One of the most iconic moments of Jim Tressel's tenure as Ohio State's head coach came before he ever coached a game for the Buckeyes.

On Jan. 18, 2001, the same day that he was named the Buckeyes' new head coach, Tressel addressed the crowd at the Ohio State men's basketball game against Michigan that night and made a famous proclamation that Ohio State fans would "be proud of our young people in the classroom, in the community and most especially, in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on the football field."

18 years ago, Jim Tressel made a promise.
