Trailing 27-23 in double overtime, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett kept a fourth down snap and raced to his left. Despite having what appeared to be a clear path to a first down, Michigan defender Delano Hill, hit the QB stopping him on the spot. Ohio State players and fans thought it was a first down, while Michigan’s players and coaches thought Barrett had been stopped short.
The officials on the field ruled that Barrett’s forward progress had reached the line-to-gain, and after a quick replay, the call on the field stood, much to the dismay of UM head coach Jim Harbaugh.
