Ohio State women's basketball: Buckeyes gain transfer from North Carolina

A source close to the program said Friday night that the Ohio State women’s basketball team is adding center Stephanie Mavunga, a transfer from North Carolina.

Mavunga, a 6-foot-3 forward, started 35 games for the Tar Heels as a sophomore in the 2014-15 season. She averaged 14.4 points and 9.6 rebounds. She scored 27 points and hauled down 14 rebounds against the Buckeyes in an 86-84 victory by the Tar Heels in the second round of the NCAA tournament in Chapel Hill.

She will redshirt next season and have two seasons of eligibility beginning with the 2016-17 season.
