Playing in his home state against many players he knew well, Mike Weber had an up-and-down day that ended well in Ohio State’s 17-16 victory over Michigan State.
The Detroit native ran for 111 yards on 14 carries and joined Robert Smith (1990) and Maurice Clarett (2002) as the only freshman running backs in Ohio State history to run for 1,000 yards.
“It means a lot,” said Weber, a redshirt freshman. “It’s a goal I set at the beginning of the year.”
Weber got off to a good start when he gained 23 yards on his first two carries.
