Ohio State got its season off on the right skate over the weekend. The 16th-ranked Buckeyes hosted the Northern Michigan Wildcats. On Friday, the first goal of the new season was scored by an old familiar face for the Buckeyes. Junior Max Montes, who had 14 goals last year, gave the Bucks a 1-0 lead in the first period.
A newcomer then struck for Ohio State, and he struck twice. Felix Caron would get his first goal on the power play. His second goal would give Ohio State a 3-0 lead at the first break. The second stanza belonged to Northern Michigan as they would answer with two straight goals of their own, making it 3-2 before Ohio State would answer.
