Ohio State Freshman Safety Jayden Bonsu Sheds Black Stripe

Jayden Bonsu is officially a Buckeye.

On Wednesday, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound Bonsu shed his black stripe along with offensive tackle Miles Walker, making them the 18th and 19th freshman to shed their stripe this season. Bonsu and Walker were the first players to lose their stripe since cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt last Wednesday.

Bonsu, who was a summer enrollee, has yet to play in a game for Ohio State this season, with Josh Proctor, Lathan Ransom, Sonny Styles and Malik Hartford taking the lion's share of reps at safety.

As a recruit, Bonsu was considered the 274th-ranked prospect and the 24th-best safety in the 2023 recruiting class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.
