The Ohio State defense got the word in the pregame locker room that talented runner Perry Hills was going to start at quarterback for Maryland on Saturday. A fellow who hadn’t taken a snap the week before in the Terps’ 28-0 loss at home to Michigan got the call to start against top-ranked Ohio State.
It turned out to be a brilliant decision by Maryland coach Randy Edsall. Not that it saved the day for the Terps; they eventually fell 49-28 to the Buckeyes. But after Hills scored his second touchdown, the score was tied at 21 with 11:17 left in the third quarter.
