Ohio State Football: Ryan Day and Justin Fields joined elite club

Many doubted this year’s Ohio State football team with a new head coach and a sophomore quarterback leading the offense. However, fans should have expected great things because those duos have worked well in the past.

Twice in the past half-century the Buckeyes had gone undefeated in the regular season with a new head coach with a sophomore QB. Ryan Day and Justin Fields did just that this year joining the elite club.

In 1979 Earle Bruce took over an Ohio State football program that was reeling with Woody Hayes being let go. And the Buckeyes were coming off a 7-4-1 season.
