Ohio State football | Q&A with former Buckeye Tony Curcillo

Dispatch sports reporter/columnist Rob Oller each week finds a former Buckeye for a question-and-answer session.

Tony Curcillo

Years at Ohio State: 1949-52

Age: 84

Current residence: Murrieta, Calif.

Tony Curcillo grew up east of Cleveland in Elyria, where he was the boyhood friend of Ohio State 1950 Heisman Trophy winner Vic Janowicz. When Woody Hayes replaced Wes Fesler as coach in 1951, Curcillo moved from end to quarterback — he was Woody’s first QB — and then to fullback. He also played linebacker. The New Jersey native moved to California in the late 1950s but still closely follows the Buckeyes.
