The story has been going around for eight months: The Ohio State defensive line has just one starter back from last season, and like the rest of the defense, will be relatively green going into Saturday’s opener against Bowling Green.
The tale comes with a wink, though.
Remember the last time Ohio State played a game, the Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame? Defensive ends Tyquan Lewis, Sam Hubbard and Jalyn Holmes and defensive tackles Tracy Sprinkle and Michael Hill were on the field for most of it. They were called on because senior tackles Tommy Schutt (injury) and Adolphus Washington (suspension) didn't play and end Joey Bosa got kicked out in the first quarter because of a helmet-first hit.
