The field hockey team is preparing for the start of its regular season, scheduled for Aug. 30 against UMass in Columbus. The squad hosted an exhibition match against Ohio University Saturday, and has one more preseason matchup against Michigan in Ann Arbor next Sunday.
Last year, Ohio State boasted a 12-8 overall record. They finished the season sixth in the Big Ten regular season standings, with the Buckeyes getting knocked out in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals by eventual champion Maryland.
Third-year head coach Jarred Martin, last season’s Big Ten Coach of the Year, brings back much of his offense from last season, including four of the top-five scorers from 2018.
