Ohio State Defensive End C.J. Hicks, Safety Malik Hartford Expected to Redshirt This Season

A pair of second-stringers on Ohio State’s defense are expected to take redshirts this season.

Sources told Eleven Warriors that senior defensive end C.J. Hicks and junior safety Malik Hartford are both planning to redshirt this season after they did not play in Ohio State’s 42-3 win over Minnesota on Saturday night. Neither player wore a helmet on the sideline during Saturday’s game.

Hicks, who is in his final year of collegiate eligibility, played in all of Ohio State’s first four games as the Buckeyes’ No. 4 defensive end but played just 50 snaps as Ohio State leaned primarily on Caden Curry, Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
