Ohio State baseball coach Greg Beals stumbled when trying to come up with the names after mentioning that a core group of players has the correct makeup when games are on the line.
There's a reason for that — Beals has a roster that includes 11 seniors and six juniors, and he didn’t know where to start.
The Buckeyes (12-6-1) will be banking on that know-how when they begin Big Ten play against Northwestern (5-16) at 6:35 tonight at Bill Davis Stadium, the opener of a three-game weekend series.
“We’ve got some guys who have been around the block and know that it’s conference time and it’s time to ante up," Beals said.
