Two of Gene Smith's final five months as Ohio State’s athletic director will be spent evaluating the future of the Buckeyes’ basketball program under Chris Holtmann.
Smith has not made any decisions about Holtmann's future in Columbus as of yet. But after losses in five of the last six games including a 25-point blowout defeat at Northwestern on Saturday – Ohio State’s 14th consecutive loss on the road – Smith will be watching the team closely throughout February and March.
“We have a lot of this season left to play, and we have coaches and players that are focused on winning every day,” Smith told The Columbus Dispatch.
