NCAA wrestling | Ohio State’s Snyder scores a heavyweight victory

Despite his status as a reigning world champion in freestyle wrestling, Kyle Snyder of Ohio State entered the NCAA Tournament in New York as the No. 2 seed in his 285-pound weight class.

He finished the weekend with another coveted title, however, after a 7-5 overtime win over top-seeded Nick Gwiazdowski of North Carolina State in the final match of the NCAA meet Saturday in Madison Square Garden.

“It was a fun match,” said Snyder, a sophomore from Woodbine, Maryland. “I think it will go down as one of the most exciting heavyweight champions in NCAA history.
